Description

High Poly version of the new Sniper Rifle I am working on.
Now I'll start working on the lowpoly, unwrap that and texture it.
I will hopefully have the lowpoly up here in a few days! :)

I used Maya 2008 Extension 2 for this model, and it took me about 2 days.

it looks really great, i can imagine that in a futuristic FPS, i dont see any problems from artistic point of view, but there are few construction issues regarding its function as a weapon - especially as a sniper rifle.

1) most of the modern sniper rifles have free floating barrel not connected to forward stock or whatever it is called in english. As you see barrel is connected only to the chamber. [link]

2)revolvers and revolver rifles didnt have traditional chamber, the drum magazine itself is used as a chamber. It has several disadvantages - the most visible one - the hot gases didnt go just through the barell but also through the small space between barell and chamber (it is not connected together) and it is not very confortable to have hot gases and tiny metal elements bursting right to your face. Thats probably the reason why there are no bullpup revolvers...

3) chamber isnt in line with barrel - there is now way to get bullet from chamber to barrel...

4) most modern rifles use rail interface to connect various attachments like scopes, biods, laser pointers etc... they not only works but also looks good.
